Mobile app development and its successful delivery is not a cake walk, though there may be millions of mobile apps in Android as well as in iOS for users. Coming out with something compelling and unique on a continuous basis is the dream project everybody invests in. But more often, mobile apps fall short of meeting client objectives. We felt that we should share with our clients a seven-throng process to creating and launching a mobile app that meets the intended objectives of traffic, business and user engagement.
Defining your goals:
The primary step towards any successful app product launch is creating a set of clearly defined goals. Goals can be varied: user goals, engagement goals, business goals and so on. Perhaps, the most important question is what problem can your app solve for your targeted users or audience? Is that a pressing problem? And how is your hard-built app going to solve it?
Once you’re able to answer the above questions, next analyse the competition, and think of innovative ways to outbeat competition, either to better their solution, UI or undercut prices – the point is to have a strategy of your own.
Learn from competition:
Next, document all your requirements and develop user flows and design options, and research current competition online, and not merely physical competitors. Research what every app offers even if it doesn’t match exactly with the value proposition of your app under consideration. Look at their offerings, user experience flow from one screen or task to the next one and user reviews of the competitor’s app. The entire exercise is to analyse what your competitors do well, what they do not do well and what they are missing on out completely. Then compare their offerings with that of your app.
Conceptualize the interface:
The design of a high performance mobile apps begins with a sound UI concept. Run through how you want the interface and the app workflow. Once you’re OK with the basic concept, it is time to huddle with your design and developers for wireframing. It is important to conceptualize the interface in the beginning stages itself.
Plan technical specifications:
Now that you are clear about your goals and UX part, you need to write down a clear definition of your technical specifications. Next decide whether you need to go for a Native, Cross-platform or Hybrid App. Do check our previous blog on how to select the right tech stack (Android/iOS/Native/Hybrid/ Cross-Platform Apps). Our team will help you recommend the right technological platform and specifications based upon your business needs.
Develop a beta version:
Next put your plan into realization and arrive at the first, mock-up design iteration, similar to the real thing. There are several tools available to form a working prototype minus the need for coding. You can request potential users to test the prototype and receive their feedback. This will help you to make adjustments suitably, if any, to your app pre-launch.
If the feedback wants dramatic changes to be done in the functioning of the app, then you should revert to wireframing and technical specification stages and conduct a second round of beta testing pre-launch.
Launching App version 1.0
Product launch? You have it heard it right. Once the product is ready, put it through another round of rigorous testing. Next, work out on your own app distribution and align all your sales channels towards it. Integrate web analytics tracking code to measure your success journey.
Market your app:
You have won only half the battle. Getting the needed traction for your mobile app requires some smart work and bit of hard work, but is well worth your efforts.
