Which type of Mobile App will rule the roost in 2019? – Part 1

Google Play has 33 categories of App while Apple Store has 24 categories; though a research by Statistica indicates only 7 app categories to be having more than 3% of user adoption. The statistics is available online to see for yourself. Based on this study, this blog will cover 7 primary types of Mobile apps that will do the rounds this year.

Gaming apps:

No other type of app can even come closer to Gaming apps in terms of sheer popularity as they account for almost 24% of all mobile apps in the App Store. If anything, the average individual time spent on gaming apps will multiply manifold, as per the same research. Not just for personal gaming, gaming apps have also been developed to increase user adoption and higher user engagement in any operational area of business. Just for the numbers, the length of an average gaming session is roughly 8 minutes. Gaming is also touted as the most lucrative app category.

Business apps:

Business apps, also known as productivity apps, are next in the popularity charts. They hold a significant share close to 10%. When businesses have to perform a myriad of complex tasks, mobile apps can automate the entire spectrum of tasks in one shot.

From booking appointments, ticketing, billing, tracking work progress, sending mail updates to customer relationship management, business-based apps can perform a wide array or roles, their primary objectives being to boost productivity, approve processes or requests and reduce headcounts and spends.

Educational apps:

Apps including Duolingo, Quizlet, etc have quickly caught the imagination of subject and language learners online, given that self-education and online tutoring are one of the fastest growing sectors. It has fully gamified and transformed the training industry to a self-serving tool with practical exercises, self-assessment & analysis, scores, rewards and more.

The biggest plus is that kids can pick up learning even as they play. Whilst learning through apps is mostly module-based, the pace can be adjusted to suit individual abilities, styles and tailored to one’s specific needs. If app reviews are anything to go by, teachers as well academicians too feel that the efficiency of learning can be doubly increased in a structured and an organised way with the right use of learning apps available in the App Store.
